Day 13- Warning Do Not Wear Hiking

Normally I find it better to photograph shoes with feet in them but I after I inadvertently attempted to wear the bottoms off of these shoes in one fell swoop, though I did very little damage to the shoes, given what happened to my feet I can not yet bear to put them back on even for a photograph so this picture will have to do. These circa 2008 sandals have been worn many times must deserve a comfort rating of 6 or 7 but due to inappropriate use i.e. I walked over 8 miles in them (more than a mile of which was in rocks and gravel) I think I am inclined to give them a bad rap when they likely deserve high praise.
Why? Why would I go on an extended walking journey in these shoes? I know it seems rather inane, you can look at them and realize they were not intended for hiking, they don't exactly need a surgeon generals warning plastered on the box. When I wound up on vacation with 2 left shoes (you know the shoes I buy in bulk (not the boots)) and had nothing else worthy of  a long walk I put these on and just figured I would not walk far or for long, FAIL! By the time I had to buy $125 pair of Flip Flops just to walk back to the hotel, I had paper towels wrapped around my minced toes. Luckily the awesome sales girl at the shoe store had tattoos and piercings, that her boss made her cover up, so she had lots of bandaids and offered to share. I know that the rules of the game state I can not purchase more shoes until I wear all of the shoes in the attic and a 0 comfort rating means I had to buy another pair of shoes in order to get home but I allow for reasonable alterations and exceptions to the rules.
Wonder if I will wear them again someday?
