Day 00x3- Blessed Shoe Covers

They ARE meant for use by themselves, outside and in public... uh well now they are...
I do in fact recognize that these are not shoes but they are getting honorary mention because pair #7 did such damage on wear #3 (see Day 7- The Cover Shoes) that when my friend and I found ourselves at “Minus 5 Degrees” the ICE BAR where by the grace of god they loaned us boots I seriously thought the gods had heard the little screams of pain from my feet. Um in hindsight they loan people boots with the intention of protecting guests to the establishment from frost bite...so I suppose it’s not all about me.
These shoe covers were being given out for use as socks with the loaner/rental boots. At the end of our visit to the bar where the temperature is 5 degrees BELOW zero we went out to the lockers in which all of our belongings had been placed upon entry, it dawned on me that I could not and would not put my beauteous shoes back on my feet. My "socks" were off and in the trash before I announced I was planning to walk out of the bar, through the casino and possibly out to the street in bare feet and my friend suggested that I wear the "socks" (at least it was something) so I took hers, after all like most normal people she was actually done with hers at that point.  We giggled our way through the casino and out to the cab stand. I got all the way back to my hotel before I got my first funny look. I smiled at the doorman, who tried to pretend he wasn't looking, and reminded him that he was in Vegas and he had seen worse!
On a comfort scale of 1 to 10... 11 inflated score due to the relief factor.

Day 13- Warning Do Not Wear Hiking

Normally I find it better to photograph shoes with feet in them but I after I inadvertently attempted to wear the bottoms off of these shoes in one fell swoop, though I did very little damage to the shoes, given what happened to my feet I can not yet bear to put them back on even for a photograph so this picture will have to do. These circa 2008 sandals have been worn many times must deserve a comfort rating of 6 or 7 but due to inappropriate use i.e. I walked over 8 miles in them (more than a mile of which was in rocks and gravel) I think I am inclined to give them a bad rap when they likely deserve high praise.
Why? Why would I go on an extended walking journey in these shoes? I know it seems rather inane, you can look at them and realize they were not intended for hiking, they don't exactly need a surgeon generals warning plastered on the box. When I wound up on vacation with 2 left shoes (you know the shoes I buy in bulk (not the boots)) and had nothing else worthy of  a long walk I put these on and just figured I would not walk far or for long, FAIL! By the time I had to buy $125 pair of Flip Flops just to walk back to the hotel, I had paper towels wrapped around my minced toes. Luckily the awesome sales girl at the shoe store had tattoos and piercings, that her boss made her cover up, so she had lots of bandaids and offered to share. I know that the rules of the game state I can not purchase more shoes until I wear all of the shoes in the attic and a 0 comfort rating means I had to buy another pair of shoes in order to get home but I allow for reasonable alterations and exceptions to the rules.
Wonder if I will wear them again someday?

Day 12- They Are Not Ugly

These have been called "weird" as well as "ugly" AND if I find myself having to defend my shoes maybe they really are just ugly but I totally love them! They are awesome, even while they are attempting to saw off the bone that holds my pinky toe on my foot. They are about 4 years old, this experiment caused them to be worn a second time and the 2 comfort score I have given them is pure generosity on my part, and at that only because they are day 12 and I need to leave room for something to be worse.

Honestly "weird" I understand but "ugly" how could anyone call them ugly?
